About The Author

Mary Gehr is a Master Officiant, Published Author, and relationship advocate who has dedicated more than two decades to helping couples celebrate, strengthen, and thoughtfully begin their lives together.

As a Wedding Officiant and Christian Lay Minister, Mary has had the privilege of standing beside thousands of couples on one of the most meaningful days of their lives. Through those years, she has witnessed not only the joy of saying “I do,” but also the importance of communication, commitment, faith, forgiveness, and intentionally choosing one another through every season of a relationship.

Her first book, Before You Say “I Do,” was created to help engaged couples prepare for more than their wedding day. It encourages meaningful conversations, thoughtful preparation, and a deeper understanding of the marriage they are about to build.

Her second book, When Your Relationship Needs…, expands that journey beyond the wedding day, offering biblical wisdom, reflections, and conversations for the many seasons couples experience throughout their relationship.

Together, these books form the Relationship Wisdom Series, created to inspire, equip, and encourage couples to build relationships rooted in faith, communication, love, and lasting commitment.

After more than 25 years as a wedding officiant and more than 5,000 ceremonies, Mary realized there was another story she needed to tell.

From One Officiant to Another: You Said Yes. Now What? was written for the people who stand on the other side of the ceremony. Whether they are officiating their first wedding for a friend or family member, building a career as a professional officiant, or looking for ways to become more confident and intentional in their craft, this book shares the lessons Mary has learned through years of real-world experience.

It is filled with practical guidance, personal insight, real ceremony experiences, and the things Mary wishes someone had told her when she first began officiating. Her goal is not to teach every officiant to do things exactly as she does, but to help them understand how to think like an officiant, prepare with confidence, lead with presence, and create ceremonies that are meaningful to the people at the center of them.

Mary believes that a beautiful relationship is not simply found. It is intentionally built, nurtured, and chosen again and again.

She also believes that a meaningful ceremony deserves the same kind of intention.

Through her books, her ceremonies, and her work with couples and officiants, Mary continues to share what she has learned about love, commitment, ceremony, and the privilege of being trusted with life's most meaningful moments.
